<title>Munich - Restaurants</title>
Munich is frequently seen as Germany's gourmet capital. Rightly so perhaps, since it has several three-star restaurants. On top of that...

...there are many very good places run by young and creative chefs. They might not have earned their stars yet, but for sure this will only be a question of time.
Besides these top notch venues there is also a wealth of places which offer local and regional cuisine. The food you will get here is quite rustic and heavy as is typical for the region. The advantage is that portions are usually quite generous. One local tradition you might not want to miss is having a "Weisswurst". This white sausage is to be consumed with sweet mustard, at least one brezel, and beer. If you do not want to be singled out as a tourist you need to have this nice combination before noon as the local tradition ascertains.
Other places to go out for lunch or dinner are, during the summer, the numerous beer gardens in town. In its simplest form this means sitting on a wooden bench underneath a chestnut tree, having a beer or two and one of the local dishes to eat. The atmosphere these gardens offer is unique and definitely worth a visit.
